August 5th
No such luck the “Venture” is on a mission
and pulls their hook up in the morning and leaves Fury. We did get a wave from
the beauty as she glides out of the cove.
“Summer Isle” a GB Europa is anchored
near. Wilf and Marg are members of the
Grand Banks BC Club. We chat and wave to each other.

We also share the bay with a little old
salmon troller that is now a leisure
boat. She is a Beauty. “FULL MOON “is her Nom De Plume.
It’s a great day so we spend some time on
the beach at Fury.

We spend another night and happy hour. Pat is a little nervous Nellie like Penny, especially about rounding Cape Caution. They had an uncomfortable ride coming north as it was a little lumpy but was made very uncomfortable because the fuel transferred to one side and they were lopsided and not safe in the swells.
Penny and I had talked about exploring
Smith Inlet again, but Pat was looking for company around the Cape. You definitely feel like you are in your own
back yard when you’re on the Port Hardy side close to all the amenities
including internet, cell, etc. We
PROMISE OURSELVES TIME AND TIME AGAIN that we will not venture out in rough
water especially around the Cape. There have been weeks that it has been
flatter than pee on a plate out there and perhaps the weather god will change
her mind and smote us down.
Pat has become a weather guru out of
self-defence. The winds have been predicted light but for me the big concern is
Slingsby Pass. We talk about leaving at
5 in the morning. The strong current off
Slingsby is still on the ebb.
