We are off on a gunk up the river and it
is breathtaking.
It’s so hard to capture the real beauty
and the solitude. We are constantly
watching the bottom for snags and rocks.
The seals are really intrigued by our presence and very interested in
Chevy too.

| Momma Seal Checking us Out |
When we entered the lagoon there has not
been a drop of rain for months. As
mentioned earlier, we have anchored just out the flow of Riot creek in 150 ft
of water with the shore a short way off the stern. We run a stern line ashore
to stop the boat doing pirouettes in the current. There is a dry creek bed just
behind or perhaps a rock slide off the shear mountains behind. It is not a
pitter patters on the roof any more as strong squalls and heavy rains come and
go.
The rain thundered down all night and
the non-existent creek behind us turned into white torrent of water.
Penny admitted that she did not sleep well with the creek boiling behind. It is time to chase some clearer skies. It was a bit of a rush to make the narrow entrance of the lagoon. I have taken the dinghy to the entrance to check out the current. It is on the turn to come in and we cannot dillydally or it will be too strong and a bit dangerous manoeuvering the narrows. It did swirl us around and the shallow spot over to starboard seemed a little too close for comfort. We both had a sigh of relief when the depth sounder started to plummet to a safe depth.
TIME TO MOVE!!
