The sailboat is still here, but the Camano
has left on the tide. The sun is out. Penny wants to go to KUHTZE were there is
always bears and crab. Every day Penny wipes the dew ofF her varnish on OA, and
I on Ravens. Chevy has been a bad girl and has found otter poop to
roll in. She is wet from her early morning romp through the tall grass and I
towel her down to get rid of the olfactory smell. She thinks it is a beauty
statement.
WE slow down and fish on one engine off OA. We see the pinks jumping all round us. I drag out some hardware behind the rod,
hoping to snag a salmon. We are trolling very near shore on Princess Royal
Island and maybe we will catch a cod or a glimpse of a SPIRIT BEAR, although
any bear will do.
A couple of
years ago we watched a Spirit Bear noshing on barnacles, seaweed or trees over
hanging the water. She was in no rush to leave snacks unfinished. We finally
got bored and left her to finish in peace, wood and all.
NO BEARS AND NO
FISH. We trek to the end of Khutze and anchor at our favourite spot. Last year
the flies were murderous and we relocated to a new location not far from the
falls.
| Eagles Checking Us Out |
Boating buddies
were here at the same time and we dropped over for last sun appies. Dick whose
boat we visiting had an air pistol on the table next to his drink. Now he is
not a cruel man and not one to take pot shots at little birds and
creatures. The dear flies were driving
us crazy. He picked up the air pistol and shot the wings of a fly with the
compressed air, no pellet just the air.
| Morning Coffee at Khutze |
After my morning
coffee on the front deck. We/I, A BLUE JOB, put out the crab trap with great
anticipation of it being full to the brim. Not sure I’ll do too well. There is an abundance of seals here!
