Meyers Pass

WORD FROM THE OUT SIDE WORLD

It has been two week or more that we have been without communication with our Tribe. The nearest Telus tower is near Klemtu, the native community. We don’t have to go there we just have to have a good signal, just close. Penny does our banking on line and we catch up on some of the local home gossip. After hearing all the good stuff it convinces ME that we are never going home. Tracey and family and the new cat (TOM) are on vacation in their boat, “Otter 1”.  The cat has been seasick (takes after Penny). It has been a rough trip and they are hanging out with Drew and Ava on his boat “Foreign Sea” with their new cat Olive Oyle. That cat played all the way up the coast in rough seas. They have stopped in Secret Cove awaiting weather improvements

NERVOUS NELLIE
When we are going out of Penny’s (have not been there!) she starts getting bossy. Like, “There’s a rock there” or “isn’t it too shallow off this point or watch out for that seagull”.  It’s just because she is a nervous Nellie.  It’s a GOOD THING, as it makes her an excellent mariner. We are going to check out Meyers Passage, a destination that we have not explored. It is going to be blowing for the next few days and we would like a safe harbour to ride it out.

"AmadeuS"

The pass is shallow with kelp choking it for a short distance. The Boating Bible said that it is navigable at a mid to high tide. The best bay is at the shallow spot, and it’s perfect. We are joined by a sail boat called “AmadeuS”. There home base is also North Vancouver. We go for a spin to check out the pass. It’s too bumpy to really enjoy the scenery. We return for appies and cocktails. A card game of kings and she trashes me at it. I am done with that GAME as I lose miserably at it. We troop off to bed.
